Project summary

The problem

A narrow patio corner had no seating and nowhere to put cushions, tools or garden supplies. Freestanding furniture would have eaten the walkable floor and still left the storage problem unsolved.

What Gary did

Gary framed a bench directly into the corner so it follows the walls instead of fighting them, then clad the frame and the wall behind it in horizontal redwood so the seating and the wall read as one built piece. The seat panels lift so the entire base is usable storage.

The result

Continuous seating on two walls, a cushion-and-tool store that stays dry and out of sight, and a patio that gained usable floor rather than losing it.
