Most fences do not need replacing. They need the two or three posts that have failed dealt with, and the panels those posts were carrying brought back to line. Gary repairs fences — including welding repairs to metal and wrought iron fencing, which most fence companies will not take on at all.
Repair or replace?
The honest test is what condition the posts are in, not what the boards look like. Weathered boards on sound posts are a cosmetic problem. Sound boards on rotted posts are a fence that is already failing and does not know it yet.
If the posts are good and a section of boards has gone, that is a repair and it is not an expensive one. If most posts move when you push the fence, patching sections becomes an ongoing subscription — each repair puts load on the next weak post along. Somewhere in between, the sensible answer is often to replace the failed run and leave the rest, which nobody offers unless you ask.
Welding repair keeps original ironwork
Decorative wrought iron fencing fails at the welds and at the posts. The replacement problem is that you cannot buy the original scrollwork back — modern equivalents do not match, and once one section is replaced the mismatch is permanent and obvious.
Gary welds these repairs on site, which keeps the original ironwork in place. This is genuinely uncommon: fence contractors are usually timber-only, and welders do not generally turn up for one section of garden fence.
After a storm
Wind damage is rarely limited to the panel that visibly failed. The panel that came down took the load first, but the posts either side of it took the same weather. Checking the neighbours of a failed section is the difference between one repair and three.

Common questions
Does Gary weld metal and wrought iron fences?
Yes. Welding repairs are done on site, which keeps the original ironwork rather than replacing a section with something that will not match. It is a service most fence contractors do not offer.
Can just the broken section be repaired?
Usually. If the posts either side are sound, repairing the failed run is straightforward. If the posts have gone too, they need resetting first — otherwise the repair is carrying load that the posts should be taking.
How can I tell if my posts are failing?
Push the fence firmly at post height. Movement at the base, or a post that is soft when you press at ground level, means the post is going. Photos of the base of the posts are the most useful thing you can text.
